One of the most common misconceptions about modular homes is that they are the same thing as, or even similar to, mobile homes. While both are constructed in a factory, there are many differences. Namely, mobile homes are constructed on a steel frame and require no assembly. They are then transported to its location and can be moved from site to site.

Modular homes however, are defined more by the way they are built rather than how they look. Unlike mobile homes, modular homes are not generic in appearance and it can be hard to tell if a home has been built with traditional construction or modular!

Some of the big differences include:
  1. Modular homes are environmentally friendly
Modular home builders focus on green energy and non-toxic or low-toxin materials, which leads to a healthier home. Modular homes contribute to waste reduction, use the most up-to-date recycled materials for construction, are often powered by solar panels and energy batteries and use solar-based water heating systems.

  2. Design Possibilities Are Endless
Modular homes are often thought of as boxy, simple or cheap. It is true these homes were created for efficiency and affordability, but today so many more options are available. From custom designs and layouts to sustainability extras, modular homes can be high-end modern or country chic with a wrap-around veranda.

  3. Modular homes are quick to build
Opting for a modular home means knocking weeks (sometimes months) off of the traditional building process. Much of the construction is done indoors, which means modular homes do not have weather challenges.
Modular construction has been around for a while, and it is not to be confused with mobile homes. It is fast, affordable, strong and beautiful. If you're looking for more information, please feel free to get in touch with one of our home consultants!
